Vietnam's Next Top Model to premiere on VTV3

The first episode of Vietnam's Next Top Model, a television reality show
that scouts potential female models, will be broadcast on the national
entertainment channel VTV3 at 8pm next Thursday.

At two
auditions last month in Hanoi and HCM City, 18 girls were
short-listed from more than 1,500 contestants aged between 18 and 25
from around the country.

The show will follow every move
of the semi-finalists who will live together in a Cast House in HCM
City for two months where they will be filmed 24/7.

They
will be stripped of all means of communications to the outside world
and will have no access to a mobile phone, computer, internet or
newspaper.

On each show, a contestant will be eliminated
after participating in challenges in different modelling skills like a
photo-shoot, cat-walk and make-up.

Two finalists will be pitted against each other in the final gala show which will be aired live at the end of January.

This is the first season of the show, which is based on the show
America's Next Top Model on CBS, a national TV network in the US./.

Vietnam readies for Next Top Model

A Vietnamese version of America's Next Top Model is holding three
days of auditions for contestants at Hanoi's Van Ho Exhibition Centre
until Aug. 20 and will open another set of auditions at the White
Palace in HCM City next Tuesday.

The 20
contestants selected will gather to live together in an apartment in
HCM City so that all their daily activities can be filmed.

The reality show is set for broadcast on Vietnam Television's VTV3 channel.

"There have been many model competitions in Vietnam , but they've
been pretty much the same," production company spokesperson Le Thi Quynh
Trang told Vietnam News, "We realised that America 's Next Top Model
was an ideal programme to focus on a modern approach to training and
managing models in Vietnam ."

Trang said that
Vietnam 's Next Top Model will maintain the original format while
changing some details to adapt Vietnamese culture.

For
example, posing for nude photos would not be included in the Vietnamese
edition despite it being a compulsory part of the show in the US ,
she said.

Trang further explained that the reality
show would reveal everything about the contestants, including their
habits and bad behaviour, whittling down the entrants until the final
winning model was chosen.

Trang said that the company had short listed some names to take on Tyra Banks' role as MC in the original programme.

The programme will be aired on VTV3 at 8pm every Thursday from September 30.

The Top Model will appear on the cover of Fashion TV's F Magazine and
sign an exclusive two year contract with a professional model company
worth 50,000 USD. The winner will also receive a scholarship for a model
training course in the US and other bonuses and benefits.

Young males and females between 18 and 25, who are over 1.65m (5'5"),
in height, are eligible to attend. Potential candidates can visit www.
