Vietnam - Cuba cultural exchange held in Cuba

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Havana , Cuba , and the
Federation of University Students (FEU) on December 9 held a cultural
exchange to mark the 50 th anniversary of Vietnamese-Cuban diplomatic
ties (December 2, 1960 – December 2, 2010) .

Attending the event were the vice rector of Havana University Cristina
Diaz Lopez, representatives from the Cuban Ministry of Universities, the
Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cuban Institute for
Friendship with the People (ICAP).

During the event,
Vietnamese and Cuban students performed variety of songs and dances as
well as traditional dances from both nations.

The
Vietnamese students put on a display of many fine arts and hand-made
products such as embroidered pictures, lacquered flower vases and silk
flowers. They also organised a small photos exhibition on the friendly
and close relationship and traditional links between Vietnam and
Cuba .

The event helped to strengthen the mutual
understanding between Vietnamese and Cuban youngsters as well as
consolidate friendship and solidarity between the two nations./.

Vietnam’s photo exhibitions open in Cuba, France

A photo exhibition on Vietnam by famous Cuban photographer and war
reporter Roberto Salas opened in the Cuban capital city of Havana on
October 8 to mark the 1,000 th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and the
50 th anniversary of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic ties.

Attending the event were Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Vu Chi Cong,
Cuban first deputy Foreign Minister Marcelino Medina, Vice President of
Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Joel Diaz along with representatives
from the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the People (ICAP) and the
Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).

On display were
over 40 black and white photos taken during Salas’s visits to Vietnam in
the 1966-1984 period, notably photos on the late President Ho Chi Minh,
Prime Minister Pham Van Dong, Kham Thien street in ruin after the US
bombing in 1972, the innocent faces of children during the war and the
daily life of Vietnamese people.

Talking with Vietnam
News Agency’s reporters in Cuba, Salas affirmed that photos on Vietnam
were the most successful works during his 50-year career because they
were taken by all his love for Vietnam.

The event was jointly held by Havana History Office and the National Fine Arts Council.

The same day, a photo exhibition entitled “Vietnamese faces” by French
author Cédric Pouralle opened in Paris, France in the presence of
overseas Vietnamese and international friends.

The
event is the outcome of Cédric Pouralles’s journey to Vietnam from 2005
to 2010, featuring 20 photos on Vietnamese land and people of all ages,
walks of life and ethnic groups./.
