The Socceroos to beat hosts Vietnam; coach

Australia will win hosts Vietnam 1-0 on Wednesday at the Thang Long-Hanoi Football Cup when they play their second match-day in Hanoi, said Australia’s coach Aurelio Vidmar.

In the opening day on Monday of the four-team tournament, Australia was defeated 1-0 by the North Korea and Vietnam thrashed Kuwait 3-0.

“My biggest concern is hot weather here, that may badly affect the Socceroos,” Vidmar told Tuoi Tre. “We will perform an exciting game today.”

After the loss over the North Korea, the Socceroos have made no training since. On Tuesday, the players and team managers relaxed in swimming pool and guided children at Hanoi SOS Village playing football.

Meanwhile, hard-working players of the North Korean side keep on encamping in the last three days since they arrived in Vietnam.

Besides training on field and having meals, they all keep on camping in hotel and refuse to reply the media.

The event, which is held to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of the Thang Long–Hanoi, has four teams competing in single round robin format with the champions to pocket US$20,000. Two runners-up get $10,000 and $5,000 respectively.
